JPD, sheriff’s office report on traffic enforcement

Jefferson police officers and Greene County sheriff’s deputies conducted a special Traffic Enforcement Project (sTEP) March 13-17.

JPD officers report issuing three citations during that time: one each for a stop sign violation, open container of alcohol in a vehicle and not having proof of insurance. They issued 26 warnings as follows: seat belt violation, three; speed, six; registration violations, three; equipment violations, nine; no proof of insurance, one; and other traffic violations, four. Officers responded to two vehicle accidents during that time.

Sheriff’s deputies reported issuing five citations: four for speeding and one for a registration violation. The issued 13 warnings as follows: speed, nine; equipment violations, two; no proof of insurance, one; and other traffic violations, one.

During that time, deputies assisted three motorists, made two narcotics arrests, and investigated one accident.
